AUS Essay Centre

The AUS runs an Essay Centre, which provides free essay writing assistance from qualified tutors during the Fall and Winter academic semesters. We offer structure, style, grammar and citation assistance. Students must come ready with a printed copy of their essay. Essays cannot simply be dropped off and essay tutors should not be expected to edit papers by email. The Essay Centre is now closed for the summer and will reopen in late-September 2016.

The AUS Essay Centre is located in the Jack Daniels Room in the Arts Lounge. Drop-in hours are the following:

If you wish to work with a tutor in your major, these subjects are available:

Monday  – Anthropology, Cultural Studies, English Literature, French, Hispanic Studies, History, International Development Studies, Italian Studies, Jewish Studies, Political Science and Sociology.

Tuesday  – Canadian Studies, Classics, English Literature, Geography, History, Jewish Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religious Studies, and Urban Systems

Wednesday – Cultural Studies, English Literature, Hispanic Studies, History, International Development Studies, Italian Studies, Jewish Studies, Political Science, Religious Studies, Sociology, and World Cinema.

Thursday  – Art History, Classics, English Literature, History, International Development Studies, and Political Science.

Friday  – Anthropology, Art History, Classics, Cultural Studies, English Literature, Hispanic Studies, History, Italian Studies, Political Science, Religious Studies, and World Cinema.

Working with subject-specific tutors is not required, any one of our qualified tutors can help you with your formatting, structure, grammar, and style!

Tutor are available to edit papers in French during drop-in hours, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You can also make an appointment if you wish to have a paper edited in French.

While we recommend coming to drop-in hours, editing is available by appointment if you’re unable to do so. We’ll make every effort to get you an appointment as soon as possible, but please don’t expect an appointment within 24 hours! Our tutors are not on-call. Therefore, we recommend that you request an appointment at least four days in advance. Our tutors are not obligated to meet students on weekends.
