So many exciting things are currently happening this summer. To start, I’ll be back in Montreal in the AUS office first thing Monday morning at 9am. If you are in town and find time in your day, drop by the AUS office (Leacock B-12) to say hi? Our office will be open for summer hours starting August 18th Mon – Fri from 9am to 5pm, staffed by our executive assistant Grant Whitham.
This month I’ve been hard at work touching base with the many offices and individuals that the AUS works with through the year, including our faculty administration and the other student associations on campus.
Here’s a brief snapshot of some things happening soon:
- On August 27th, Arts OASIS and their ASAP Coordinators are organizing a program fair for incoming students to learn about the different academic programs (majors and minors) offered in the Faculty of Arts. Drop by the SSMU Ballroom (located in the third floor of the SSMU building, 3480 rue McTavish) that day starting from 1pm to 3pm to learn from the different departments about the programs that you can take during your time at McGill.
- That same day, I am also organizing a forum for incoming students titled “Get Involved!: A Panel on First-Year Opportunities”. The forum will feature representatives from different first year student association groups (such as FEARC, the AUS first year committee) speaking about how you can get involved. They will be there to answer your questions about the different opportunities awaiting you on campus. The forum will run as a part of Orientation Week’s Discover McGill A La Carte events. You can register for the event there but space will not be capped so drop-in attendance is also possible. If you see me at the event standing, don’t hesitate to come say hi!
- And of course, don’t forget to register for AUS Dino Frosh, the most anticipated social event of the year! Our VP Social Kyle Rouhani and his coord team have been hard at work all summer to bring you the most inclusive and engaging Frosh yet! Registration is open here: http://orientation.ssmu.mcgill.ca/.
