DUTIES : Researching primary sources, writing summary papers, fact-checking/ proofing, styling up references, and support for conference presentations.

(3) POSITION: RESEARCH ASSISTANT FOR SPRING AND SUMMER
DEPARTMENT:
PROJECT: For a project investigating 19th century socialism as a backdrop to Marx’s Capital. Work would include: searching for sources in the library and on electronic databases, reading and summarizing articles, constructing a bibliography, and preparing essays for journal submission by editing for house style, checking citations, etc.
WAGE: Rate of $12 an hour
HOURS: Approximately 300 hours of work
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Applicants must have a solid background in political theory or philosophy, and be capable of working independently; reading knowledge of French and/or German, and previous research experience, are bonuses.

PROJECT : RELIGIONS and POLITICS in EUROPE’s ORIENTS

HOURS : FALL 2011 and WINTER 2012 Sessions; Variable number of hours
DUTIES :
- Language editing in English
- verification of the respect of editorial norms (especially for footnotes) in English and French ;
- correction or creation of chapters’ bibliographies if needed
REQUIRED SKILLS :
- Excellent writing skills in English
- Good command of written French
- Use of Office software
- Solid background in history and/or the social sciences
- An interest for and/or knowledge of the Eastern Mediterranean and Southeastern Europe is an asset
