Handbook Coordinator (Commission/Stipend)
The AUS produces an Agenda provided to students for free at the beginning of the Fall Semester. The position is a summer one only, and has two dimensions. The first is the creative design of the Agenda, its cover, content, and pages etc. The second is the fundraising/sponsorship for the journal. We produce 2500 of these journals and for the past 2 years has broken even through sponsorship placed in the Agenda which the handbook coordinator is responsible for. Thus the coordinator is responsible that both aspects are completed on time to go to the printer to be ready before FROSH. This year the coordinator will also be responsible for writing a transition manual to detail the process for the next coordinator.

Lounge Manager (Volunteer)
The Arts Undergraduate Society has made efforts in the past academic year to move the Arts Student Lounge towards a more student friendly relaxed and open environment. Given that new “lounge” space designed specifically for studying will be built on the main floor of Leacock for the coming semester, the orientation of the lounge is set to change. We are looking for a lounge manager to help ensure that this transition occurs smoothly.
The duties of the lounge manager will include; coordinating bookings of the lounge by student groups (other than for pub night), coordinating the booking of Conference Rooms, supervising the upkeep of new items in the lounge, journals, furniture pool table music equipment etc, creating the application for funding to improve the lounge through the Arts Undergraduate Improvement Fund, generally upkeep and occasional cleaning of the lounge, and facilitating the direction and environment of the lounge.

Commissaire de la Francophonie Translator (Stipend)
In the interest of making the Arts Undergraduate Society a fully bilingual entity, we are looking for an independent individual looking at heading up the overhaul of the French side of all operations within the AUS.
This will include the translation of all official documents, (the constitution, bylaws, website, minutes, etc) It will involve close coordination with the executive to secure all past documents that need translating, and at the same time coordination in order to translate all documents produced in the coming year. The position is independent as we wish to give control of the direction and extent of the project to the individual who fills this position. They will be responsible to report to the Arts Council.

Arts Council Recording Secretary (Stipend)
The recording secretary is responsible for accurately, effectively and reliably taking the minutes of Arts Council which occurs on a bi-weekly basis during the semester. The time commitment is usually 2-3 hours every two weeks, from 6 or 6:30 pm. However the day of the week for which council will be held is not determined until the beginning of September, thus it must be kept in mind that flexibility may be required. Interested applicants should have some background experience in taking official Roberts Rules Minutes, or be well qualified in accurately recording meetings.

Arts Council Speaker (Stipend)
The Speaker of Arts Council is responsible for effectively and efficiently conducting the meetings of AUS council. The person interested in this job needs to thoroughly know Roberts Rules of Order, which are the rules under which Arts Council are conducted. They must be willing to strictly adhere to the structure of meetings and keep all Council members “in line”. The time commitment is usually 2-3 hours every two weeks, from 6 or 6:30 pm. Executive Assistant (paid)
The executive assistant fills many of the day-to-day functions of the AUS. It is a regular paid position with hours, but operates much like the executive position, many of the jobs need to be sought out and completed. These include, ordering staples supplies, cleaning the office, confirming table bookings, table booking, adding updates to the website, organizing filing etc. We are looking for a self motivated individual looking to become part of a dynamic but erratic group of people who’s chief job will be to increase the efficiency of the activities of the executive.

Bookkeeper (paid)
Probably the most important job of the AUS executive is ensuring that Students money is spent responsibly and recorded efficiently. The job is similar to that of the office assistant but assigned specifically to the VP Finance. People interested in this job must have knowledge of Quickbooks Finance and have some background in finance, including how to read budgets, write cheques, and generally keep track of and keep large finance information organized.

Arts Pub Manager (Volunteer)
Listen - AUS Pub Nights have taken off. Sooo, we need a team (headed by you) to run these pub nights. Thursday (no longer Tuesday) cheap beer nights, massive sound system and different themes throughout the year all come down to you and the VP Events. Your job will be to run pub nights with VP Events, coordinate the volunteers as well as the logistics of the parties (ordering alcohol, pizza, tables and so on). We need you to be creative and ambitious because we want to reach out to as many students as we can. We’ll need interesting themes for our parties and we need you to throw them.

Red and White Coordinator (Volunteer)
The Red and White Ball, is the graduation Ball for the Arts Students. Planning for the event is done by a committee starting in January for the ball which usually happens at the very end of March. People interested in a position on the Red and White committee, should be highly motivated, and enjoy putting on great events/have experience doing so. The committee is headed by the VP Events. The job will involve creative planning running the event, all associated tasks, including working with the publicity and sponsorship committees to advertise and raise money for the event.

For the first time in recent memory, the AUS is running an Arts Carnival!!! Want to make this better than all the rest in its first year, join this committee. Essentially its Frosh for Winter Semester, planning running and one big awesome party for a couple of days.

Environmental Commissioner (Volunteer)
We are looking for an independent commissioner to head up a committee that will look into the environmental practices of the Arts Undergraduate Society and the Arts Faculty in general, and make recommendation to the Arts Council in an effort to improve the practices and environmental sustainability of the AUS and Arts. The position will be responsible for recruiting committee members, holding meetings and reporting to Arts Council several times a semester. The Environmental Commissioner will be responsible for producing a set of Environmental Bylaws to be presented and ratified by Arts Council.

Chief Returning Officer (Stipend)
The AUS runs elections around February/March according to AUS electoral bylaws. To make sure that this is done fairly and freely, an independent electoral officer and deputy officers are hired to ensure that elections are carried out independently of the AUS. Different from past years, the CRO and DRO’s this year will operate completely separately from the AUS. This means that planning for the elections, advertisement of it, the set up of debate, coordination with the webmaster to possibly create an independent online voting system, and assuring that all the rules of the election are followed will be done independently. Interested students should be willing to commit a large amount of time during the elections to ensuring they run efficiently and effectively. Other responsibilities will include throwing the election wine and cheese with the help of the VP events, reporting the ongoing and results of the election to the AUS and all arts Students, and being the official voice of Elections AUS to the general public.

The job description is essentially the same as the CRO, only that the chief job is to assist in the coordination of the election by aiding the CRO in fulfilling all their responsabilities.

Publicity Coordinator (Volunteer)
In an effort to streamline all of our events and to aid in the announcement of the events of other student departmental associations, the AUS is looking for a volunteer to coordinate these efforts so that effective advertising of all the events of the AUS can be achieved.
The position would involve coordinating volunteers to make class announcements for as many classes as possible, (this would be done in conjunction with departmental associations), putting together a postering team of volunteers to advertise events around campus, and generally finding ways to advertise to students all the events that are being put on. Serious communication with all event coordinators, Carnival, Pub Night, Red and White, AUS and departments would be a large part of the job, as well as finding creative ways to advertise, and creating/printing posters for events.

Departmental Journal Coordinator (Volunteer)
This position is fairly straight forward, and would be best filled by someone interested in being an editor of one of the departmental journals for the coming year. Many of the departmental journals are produced around the same time of year. The responsibility of the journal coordinator is to help the efficiency of this process by working with the editors of all the departmental journals to print at the same time to lower costs, get information out to all students about submitting, to offer information and resources to editors. Other areas of the job may include the starting of a collection of all departmental journals in the Arts Lounge, and possibly the sending of journals to other universities, and the McGill Library.

Sponsorship Coordinators (Commission)
The Arts Undergraduate Society puts on numerous events throughout the year, of which access to students is highly valued. As we have an interested in providing all these activities using as little of students money or as cheaply as possible, we look to business’ for funding through advertising in a number of different mediums. The job of all the sponsorship coordinators will be to find new and creative ways to generate funds for the operation of all AUS activities. This will include helping to find sponsorship for ARTS FROSH, the Hand Book, all other events put on, website sponsoring, and working with the AUS executive in securing exclusivity contracts. The chair will be responsible for directing all those on the committee, and reporting to the AUS Council.

In an effort to expand the involvement of the AUS in the local community we are looking for creative individuals to work on a committee that will work on ideas to reach out to the community through joint events and any other ideas you can come up with. Fine Arts Committee Coordinator (Volunteer)
In an interest to institutionalize our commitment to Fine Arts started in 2006 with the creation of the Arts Undergraduate Theatre Society we are looking for a group of people to expand the umbrella of fine arts covered by AUS to other areas, and bring in other aspects, creative writing, poetry, theatre, Art, etc.
